This sticks to almost all metallic surfaces, sometimes if its a weird metal thats not like proper magnified it won't stick , luckily gym equipment is all fine for this magnetic function. Also if you workout outside, it will also stick to the monkey bars and stuff. Bought the same one for my friend too!

Seen a review that said does it stick with heavy items, I tossed it onto one of the machines and it stuck. Mind you I had a full gym bottle of water, AirPods, wallet, wrist wraps, car keys, and lip balm all loaded into the bag. I was able to hang it off of a small pole and it stayed. So yes the magnet is strong and does exactly what it is advertised to do. So far I enjoy having it and have yet to use it as a tripod, but with some creativity you can get some angles that some tripods can’t reach or get. It’s also good for when I have sore legs as I don’t have to bend to get my bottle since I usually have it at hip or shoulder level. Overall the bag is a solid purchase.
